PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Personal Protective Equipment is used by all of us and can include: Safety Glasses/Goggles, Safety Shoes, Hard Hats, Protective Gear, Gloves, and other items depending on your job and what your exposures are. The Risk and Safety Office is responsible for conducting annual Hazard Assessments to determine what PPE is needed and when. Each employee is required to review and sign a Hazard Assessment for their position initially and after any changes are made.

Most of the reported exposures we receive can be prevented with the use of proper PPE. It is very important that you utilize PPE as trained, you only use Agency issued PPE, and that you use provided PPE when appropriate. This will help to protect yourself and others around you from exposures and other related risks.

In order to comply with OSHA’s regulations pertaining to PPE, Medic will provide training to all employees on:

  • Engineering Controls
  • Exposure Control
  • When to Use PPE
  • Types of PPE
  • Reasons to Use PPE

Training is provided upon hire and during Annual Compliance Training. For any questions about the use or selection of Personal Protective Equipment please contact the Risk and Safety Office.
