Application

Applicant must have an active state or national certification. If accepted, expect a response within 5 business days to schedule a virtual assessment. These assessments could be scheduled up to 3 weeks out depending on availaiblity.

Vital Assessment

Virtual interview to assess basic level of competency through 2 scenarios in an oral board format. The virtual panel will include one HR representative and at least one clinical assessor from our Clinical Education, Clinical Improvement, or Operations leadership teams.

Offer

After assessment, expect an offer decision within 1 week and discuss which future new hire academy will work for you.

New Hire Academy

Our 2-week New Hire Academy is offered monthly and includes basic orientation, equipment reviews, navigation, driver training, and clinical skills training.

Field Training

During your 6–8 weeks riding third with a Field Training Officer, you’ll focus on mastering navigation and local protocols to become confident with patient care equipment and documentation, every shift is another opportunity to build your skills and confidence.

Oral Boards

For Paramedics only, you will participate in a Medical Director-required clinical oral interview assessing knowledge of local assessment, treatment, and transport protocols.

Scope of Practice

For both Paramedics and EMTs, you will take both written and hands-on scenario evaluations to complete the required local credentialing process. You will be provided support from our Clinical Improvement and Clinical Education teams.

Shift Bid

New Paramedics and EMTs bid on available Non-Crew Chief shifts, including ALS 911, BLS 911 and Non-Emergency Transport (NET). Available shifts depend on anticipated system demand and staffing needs. New employees are ranked based on position, years of experience using your credentialed date, and new-hire interview score. After your shift is established, optional shift bids for those wanting to change shifts are held every other month.

Crew Chief Training

Two days of targeted training focused on operational responsibilities, including daily deployment procedures, scene management and triage, and expectations and responsibilities. Training is completed after three additional days of ride time with an Assistant Operations Supervisor.

Crew Chief Upgrade

After Relief Crew Chief class is completed, you will be eligible to upgrade to Crew Chief, and will lead your crew and act as Medic on scene command of complex incidents. Employees are eligible 6 months after hire for Paramedics and 1 year after hire for EMTs. Once upgraded, you will bid for an available Crew Chief shift. This upgrade also includes a 15% increase in hourly pay.
