Serious car wreck

March 17th, 2015

Ms. Thomas was involved in a motor vehicle accident on 485 in June of 2013. Several bystanders called 911 to report the accident and some stopped to render aid. Several emergency response vehicles were dispatched to rescue and provide medical assistance. Ms. Thomas was trapped in her vehicle and transport to a trauma center was a priority. Medic Paramedic Crew Chief Mark Peck and Paramedic Joshua Baun provided patient care while the Charlotte Fire Department provided extrication efforts. Due to the extended extrication time and distance to a level 1 trauma center, Med Center Air helicopter was dispatched. Ms. Thomas is a survivor today due to excellent team work of the emergency response system, excellent patient care from all providers and proper seat belt use. Please join Medic and Ms. Thomas in congratulating Paramedic Crew Chief Mark Peck, Paramedic Joshua Baun and the outstanding Emergency Medical/ Fire Dispatchers in communications on an outstanding job!

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the Charlotte Fire Department B Shift (R10, L32, BC07, E39, E09, E32, T09), Med-Center Air, CMPD for keeping us all safe from traffic while providing care and the hospital staff of Carolinas Medical Center Main for their assistance and successful teamwork in helping to treat Ms. Thomas. Ms. Thomas’s positive outcome is just another example of Medic's effective community partnerships at work.
