Captain Norman Goode

Paramedic and Education Quality Specialist Tom Porcelli, EMT-B Wayne Rosebrock and Operations Supervisor Don Shue responded after Captain Norman Goode of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office suffered a cardiac arrest and crashed into a utility pole on Beatties Ford Road in February 2011. Eyewitnesses ran less than a block away to Charlotte Fire Station 18 for help. First Responders cut Capt. Goode from his vehicle and Medic crew members Porcelli, Rosebrock and Shue immediately started working to restore the rhythm of his heart.  By the time care was transferred to CMC Main, Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC) had been achieved.

Captain Goode and two members of the Medic crew were reunited on February 5th, 2013, nearly two years after that fateful day in February 2011. He reports that he is grateful for another chance at life and will continue to commemorate his "second birthday" every year.
