A team of seven Prehospital Care Specialists from the country of Georgia (formerly part of the Soviet Union) are traveling to Charlotte, NC to train with members of Medic’s Paramedic Training staff and faculty members from the Center for Prehospital Medicine, Carolinas Medical Center. The training, which is being facilitated through the International Prehospital Trauma Life Support Program, will take place in Medic’s state-of-the-art simulation center, November 3 - 4, 2009.
The International Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) program was developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. The program is recognized around the world as the leading continuing education program for prehospital emergency trauma care and has been delivered to representatives from 43 different countries to date.
Once completed, the seven Prehospital Care Specialists will return to Georgia prepared to pass along the training knowledge they received while here in Charlotte, delivering advanced medical techniques that will help raise the level of prehospital care available to residents of their country.
