11.05.09 - Medic Hosts First of Its Kind Recognition Event
November 5th 2009

Medic is hosting a first of its kind Recognition Event to celebrate the Agency’s outstanding performance treating and reviving patients in sudden cardiac arrest. Medic’s performance in this regard is among the best in the country - and those Medic personnel and community partners who have contributed to at least one cardiac arrest save in the field will be recognized for their actions.

The event will be held on Thursday, November 5th, 2009 at the Halton Theater on the CPCC Campus from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Representative Becky Carney, a sudden cardiac arrest survivor herself, will be the evening’s Keynote Speaker.

More than 200 people from across the county have committed to attend including local and state dignitaries, administrators from both hospital systems, first responders, Medic personnel and cardiac arrest survivors. The evening will begin at 5:30 pm with a reception in the Halton Theater Lobby. The reception will then be followed by the awards program at 6:30 pm inside the Halton Theater.

Medic ranks among the top EMS Agencies in the country in its performance of reviving patients in sudden cardiac arrest. Medic is successful at reviving patients in a rhythm of ventricular fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia 53% of the time (FY 2009).

The event is intended to not only serve as an opportunity to recognize the outstanding work of Medic’s employees and their partners in the community - but also to remind the public of the impact they can have on the survival rate of sudden cardiac arrest patients through training and bystander intervention.
