Lucky Hearts

The Lucky Hearts Campaign is a strategic partnership between Medic and the Mecklenburg Medical Alliance and Endowment (MMAE) that helps bring awareness to bystander intervention and the need for public use Automated External Defibrillators(AEDs).

MMAE, a Mecklenburg County non-profit that helps support and fund local health initiatives, raises funds for the purchase of AEDs for approved organizations.  Medic then provides CPR/AED awareness training for 50 individuals associated with each organization that is awarded an AED.  The primary targets for AED distribution include area churches, parks, non-profits, public/government buildings and schools (generally large public gathering areas).

Program Goals

  • Raise $500,000 for the purchase of public use AEDs in Mecklenburg County
  • Distribute at least 400 public use AEDs in Mecklenburg County
  • Train at least 10,000 people in CPR/AED Awareness in Mecklenburg County
  • Enact an AED Ordinance in Mecklenburg County
