In 2013, Medic responded to over 114,000 calls for help. Nearly 70% of these are due to medical problems. We find that many of our patients may not know enough about their chronic diseases or recognize the warning signs of potentially life-threatening medical situations. If you are diagnosed with a chronic condition, such as diabetes, high blood pressure or asthma, we encourage you to learn as much as you can about your disease. Many times, patients could prevent a trip to the emergency room simply by managing their condition more effectively.
The two types of calls which often present the most immediate life-threat are Heart Attack and Stroke. We strongly encourage everyone to learn the warning signs of these life-threatening conditions. Recognizing symptoms early can lead to more effective treatment and a better outcome.
