The Mecklenburg EMS Agency (Medic) is nationally recognized as an industry leader in EMS. Currently, we have an opening for a dynamic Compensation and Payroll Specialist.
The position requires knowledge and experience in compensation analysis and payroll processing. Job responsibilities include; annual review and analysis of the Agency’s compensation plan; completing salary surveys; compiling and analyzing salary data; processing annual performance evaluations and processing payroll and benefit changes and adjustments. Experience with KRONOS HR is a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
COMPENSATION
- Compiles bi-weekly payroll reports and monthly HR reports.
- Coordinates compensation issues with payroll to ensure accuracy.
- Prepares annual performance evaluation for distribution
- Processes annual performance evaluations
- Maintains logs of delinquent evaluations and alerts appropriate department manager of findings
- Conducts routine self audits of work to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Researches, compiles and prepares various reports using the data collected from all resources.
- Participates in salary surveys.
- Conducts annual survey to collect salary information from other EMS agencies, police and fire
- Conducts annual salary survey between December-March of each year on all Agency positions except for the leadership team.
- Processes annual Longevity payments.
- Stays updated on FLSA related issues and ensures compliance to FLSA wage requirements
BENEFITS
- Coordinates the administrative details of employee benefit programs.
- Coordinates benefit enrollment processes by assisting with open enrollment and enrolling new hires in benefits; update’s HRIS and communicates with appropriate agencies.
- Works with third-part administrator to insure proper COBRA notifications and collections.
- Processes monthly billing statements. Reviews billings for accuracy, codes and advances for payment.
- Resolves discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the company. Completes reports for management as requested.
- Coordinates with third-part administrator to distribute accurate annual Benefit Statements to all employees.
- Maintains appropriate benefit files, benefits supplies and keeps County HR office updated on all changes, etc.
- Advises employees and answers questions about enrollment, problems, claims, beneficiaries, and other matters. Liaison for employee and benefit representative on information on any problems that may arise.
OTHER
- Acts as a Corporate Compliance Representative (FCA) for the Agency and satisfies all the CHS established responsibilities for that role by attending meetings, auditing area of responsibilities and adhering to specific departmental action plan(s).
- Assists HR Director with HIPAA reporting.
- Assists with Service Award Banquets, and HR Compliance Audits.
- Audits personnel files for accuracy purposes.
- Keeps Director informed of all unresolved issues and/or concerns.
- Performs other job related functions as needed.
- Provides prompt and accurate customer service and cross trains in HRIS & Recruitment to ensure efficient customer service to all employees.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
