The Business Analyst will be the coordinator/implementer of business analysis and reporting functions for Medic. Leverage Business Intelligence tools and practices to support the reporting and analytics requirements of the organization. The ideal candidate will be proficient with analytical tools (Excel. Access, and Cognos knowledge would be helpful), knowledge of data mining and analysis as well as experience in a multi-platform reporting environment is essential. This role requires strong SQL and data extraction skills. Familiarity with Electronic Patient Care Reporting (ePCR) system and Tritech Software Systems CAD is a benefit. The role requires excellent communication/presentation skills, the ability to lead projects and coordinate discussions across multiple departments to articulate requirements and build consensus. Candidate will be responsible for understanding, developing, and maintaining reports involving complex clinical logic as well as many of the organizations performance metrics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Analysis, design, development, and development of reports and queries to support business requirements
- Ensure that data quality and data definition standards are developed and implemented.
- Develop and maintain metadata definitions and ensuring consistency throughout the organizations application landscape
- Coordinate and resolve stewardship issues and definitions of data elements that cross functional units.
- Interpret and assure compliance with corporate policies and regulations regarding the release of, responsible use of, and access to institutional data.
- Must possess the ability to create SQL databases, load databases from spreadsheets and other data sources; query a variety of databases (SQL, Access and custom applications).
- Provide communications and education to users on appropriate use and protection of institutional data.
- Define and support business practices and procedures to identify and correct erroneous or inconsistent data recorded in operational systems.
- Ensure that the validation and the approval of the published reports and queries are performed based on defined testing procedures.
- Evaluate data collection systems to understand and apply edits and checks where possible to drive improvements in data quality at the point of capture.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a small team environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Four or more years of intense work-related experience as a Business Analyst and/or Cognos Report Writing software. Should also have experience with Microsoft Applications including Office applications.
- Skills in the use of the PC’s laptops, mouse, modem and fax.
- Work effectively with others and have interpersonal skills required.
- Must be highly organized and work well under pressure.
- Bachelors’ Degree and two years of experience with statistical analysis required, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Clinical experience as a Paramedic or related clinical experience preferred.
